Wish I Were Born Basil Poem by Francis Duggan

Wish I Were Born Basil

Wish I were born Basil I'd be a happy dog
I'd sit and watch the t.v. whilst Mick would drink his grog
I'd go for walks with Marlene and rest most of the day
But I am just a human and what hair I've left is gray.

Wish I were born Basil my life I would enjoy
And I would not have to worry if Mick and Marlene did die
As they have willed me all of their possessions I'd be canine millionaire
Wish I were born Basil I wouldn't have a care.

Wish I were born Basil I'd be a canine God
And I would not have to work for the Nash's Alec, Daryl and
Rod
No need to feel unhappy and life would be a breeze
And I'd only know the good times the joy and the heartease.

Wish I were born Basil I'd rest most of the day
And I'd go for walks with Marlene and with my tennis ball play
And while away the evenings sitting watching t.v.
Whilst Mick would drink from tinny on sofa next to me.
