Wintertime Poem by Tiffany Rose Moczydlowski

Wintertime

Rating: 5.0

The icy embrace of the frigid North wind
Makes me shiver through my thin, tattered sweater
All the bare, dead tree branches
Shakes and groan in the freezing weather
The thick blanket of snow
Cover's everything, everything
Destroying all the grass and flowers
These animals no longer eat like kings
The land seems barren, lifeless too
The only greens are the evergreens
Sharp, pointy needles that don't suit as food
Is Mother Nature in a bad mood?
Oh, do you hear those gales howl?
They sound like lonely wolves, calling one another
Pleading for companionship
This is why we need each other
The freezing water harbors under ice
Bears and frogs now hibernate
Trying to sleep through this harsh time
I never understand why it works so great
This chilly breeze bites my nose
I try to ignore it
Needing strength, you know?
Huge blizzards blow fierce
Trapping creatures in their tracks
So many hardships suddenly arise
The thing is, it's only December
I wonder... Will we survive?
