Winters Long Night Poem by Eric Paeplow

Winters Long Night

Winters long night, gives way to dawn
The sky's clear, the snow melts and the rivers rush on
The long cold nights of this winters malaise
Give way to new life in natures landscape

Rise up and herald the new dawn
As winters cold clutch loosens and the seasons move on
Spring brings forth new life, true beauty to see
The new fawn nurses, buds now cover the trees

The natural world alive and running at a breathless pace
Though the future is still uncertain and life no less a race
New eyes shine with wonder at the world all around
The snow melts, life thrives, as the sun thaws the ground

The spring now begins, life again refreshed
The days now each longer, as the dark nights regress
Open your eyes, sleep not through the morn
As winters long night, gives way to dawn
