Winning Our Battles Poem by Cynthia Buhain-baello

Winning Our Battles

In repentance and rest is our salvation
In quietness and trust is our strength,
The Word of the LORD guides all our direction
And His promises comfort us at length.

And yet most of us like sheep, we wander
Follow voices of Self wants, desire
We would have nothing of it whatever,
Drown the Shepherd's voice and the Spirit's fire.

We cannot do the good that we want to do
The carnal nature battles strong, we can't win-
But when our Self has died to Christ, this is true
Victory's won as the Spirit dwells within!

The Spirit only fills the emptied vessel
No room for doubts, uncertainties or fear.
There His Word works the molding so well
Each day the soul seeks to draw God near.
