Window Of The Soul Poem by Arthur Carman

Window Of The Soul

Rating: 5.0

I looked in the eyes of many strangers
Till I looked into your eyes
I knew your eyes like never before
Your stare was clear to my heart
Warmth filled my soul for the first time
It was too long since I had seen you
Time had ceased to exist like before
The day's became years and the weeks centuries
You came home at last and now you are gone
Gone again like the wind that blows through the valley
Only to show yourself long enough to be seen
Disappearing into thin air no longer a part of my heart
What seemed to be indestructible
Has been tossed aside without care
Wiped from your heart forever more
Yet within me you can not be erased
The hole you have left runs deep
So deep I may never forgive you
For it was mine that was open soul
And now I am only left with memories
Reminding me that what it was
Was no more than a moment in time
Time that ceased to exist slowly resumes
