Will You Still Want Me The Way I Am Poem by Olivia Slemmermann

Will You Still Want Me The Way I Am

Silken robes and fancy gowns,
Bright rubies and gold have I none
Fame or great name I do not have
All I bring is my guileless reliance
My beauty and unpretentious grace
Will you want me the way I am

Will your tortuous heart still wander
Only to forsake me for some other
Whose riches and fame brings glory of name
Or conquer your earthly desires
Will you have trust in me for what I am
Have faith in me and no other

Or still look for lust ephemerally
Thru sweet rhymes, love song and poetry
With all faith in me, and mine in you,
Yet you continued to woo me and me alone
Amidst dahlias, sea-urchins and cockscomb
Besides the cobbled path I go

Will your faith in me be as strong
To follow me all the way on
To our homestead and beyond
Where I have found all my riches
In all the gold of fields ripened
Bejeweled in the luminous sunsets,

Sweet music in rippling waters
In chorus to the morn's bird song
Dazzling images blush the landscape
Festooned with inflorescence of every hue
Sustains my appetite and hunger
Will your faith in me go all the way through
