Wild Horses Poem by Fiona Schwartzinoff

Wild Horses

Rating: 1.0

Their swift feet which carry them far away
Into places unimaginable to man.
Their manes flow in the breath of Wind
Who sweeps them up in his vast wingspan.

They carry the wealth of the world
And hold oceans of mystery in their eyes.
Through day and night and dawn and dusk,
They live life as a beautiful journey and fly.

Since young, they seek out the hidden
And are bold in the face of the daunting
They fight till they are assured they have won
And raise their heads high with mane flaunting.

They race through storms undefeated
And laugh in the face of thunder
The sunlight smiles upon their journey
And drives away hardship and languor

They dance in the waves of the seashore,
Flinging their joy into the sky.
They prance beneath the gaze of the moon
With their strong necks brandished high.

The forests are their homes,
The mountains are their kingdom.
No enemy may enter undefeated
In the blaze of their fiery freedom.

We gaze on them with admiration,
We envy their courage with awe.
We reach for what they have
And still fret that we don’t have it all.

But within each man is a spirit
As wild and roaring as the sea
Within each man is a calm
That boldly conquers and frees.

For within each man is hidden unknowingly
Fragments of the vast mountain and ocean tide.
Yes, within our hearts we may find
The hoof prints of wild horses running freely inside.
