Why Me..... Poem by Mallika Achuthan Menon

Why Me.....

They used to come one after one
just like waves of mighty ocean.
Sorrows trespassed human minds
to give us pangs of pain as gifts.
It is like how cats kill their prey
They torture us as it was their play.
No reason though they pricked my soul
harshly with many claws and nails.
Then chillness touched my whole body
I stayed back in my own cocoon.

Life resembles an echo
It gives back promptly
what we offer.
I wonder how come sorrows
not letting me lone
When I part the same with
none in this world.

Crawling regrets of conscience
Made both my days and nights disgusting
They gave nothing but feelings of loss
In and out all through my life.
With drooping heart and tear drops in eyes
WHY ME.......I asked myself with a sob.

Then I felt a tender touch
and turned back to see who it could be!
There he stood, my own Hope!
With a bag full of positiveness...
He cupped my face with both his hands
And told me a fact in whisper.
'Why you fear when I am near
don't look back and go ahead.
In between all mental pain,
if you could give solace to
those who needed that so badly.
Then peace of mind will dawn on you
The quintessential part of life.'

His dictum helped me in such a way
For getting exact perspective of life.
Thereby learnt to refill the same
with peace and joy abundantly.
Amidst distress I walked slowly
One by one step at a strech
Towards the aim in steady pace.
Woes and losses vanished from sight
And in this ordeal I have won.
For me it is even enough and more! !

very well written. Its always better to move forward and not look back. Sorrows and joys, none are permanent, and will stay wtih us forever.

Mallika - it's a nice penning with full of inspirations and hopes. Yes, we should live with optimism, because our life moves in an one way direction only and never goes back. Hence, no other way besides moving forward. But truly is it like that or else life is full of miseries comprising of losing loved ones, pains of getting defeated, unfulfilled hopes and dreams? ? I truly is in a dilemma.

When we are in despair, what positive change, the confident words of a loved one can give! When your dear partner whispered the mantra of life in your ears, you could confidently move forward and all your anxiety, fear and disappointment went away. By words or actions, if one can ignite hope in others, his/her life never goes in vain! A poem quite positive and optimistic!

You have written a profound truth. We search for peace within and we don't find it there. But when we see how much more we can give to make others happy, we then find our own. Emerson once said, Only a life lived for others is life lived worthwhile.
