Why A Minute Counts Poem by Jim Work

Why A Minute Counts

60 seconds in a minute
60 minutes in an hour
21,900 days
525,600 hours
31,536,000 minutes
60 years
Makes me wonder
How was this bounty spent?

Milestones and headstones
Budding memories and stone regret
Additions and subtractions
Gains and losses
Requitted love and the undiscovered
Many friends, few rivals
A mind at war and blissful sleep
Epiphonies and peace of mind
Deep pools and superficial puddles
Heart and parts broken then surgically repaired
A sweet kiss on the lips, a swift kick in the pants
Tears of sadness and tears of joy
New births and wasted time
Things remembered and then forgot
Never enough ying, way to much yang
Then there were the cars and bars and scars
My tale is told from this list
As is yours
Always good at math
But my division sucked
