Who We Are Poem by Ikechukwu Ogbuike

Who We Are

Beyond here
Beyond this atmosphere
Beyond this mist
We are a people who exist
For a purpose
A seed that died to reveal a rose
Dust we come from
And to dust we return
Leaving the spirit to roam
For a time, and a time plus two before the call to come home
There is a world that has not yet been charted therefore
Residing in this dome of reason but still standing at the fore
An orange waiting to be plucked
Come and dare or be stuck
Undeniably we are all descended from the only One who cares
And if truth be told are expected to ascend beyond planet mars
If we were made in His own image
It should hold firm through different times from age to age
Let there be no doubt therefore of the purpose
It's so we could fellowship with one another about this unity through which we are all foreclosed
Men have developed forked tongues spewing forth dung
Like the beguiling serpent who is actively engaged in steering them into what they don't belong
Let us look deeply within
For the substance which is in us, although hidden
It is still there though silently bubbling and beckoning to the same reason
For the choice is always ours to make it a gift of every new day that is dawning
I do not write my words
Or speak a language that is understood only through Morse
Who we are?
We are the people who are here
Look therefore not for the shadows
For this dawn that overtakes does not wait for reconciliatory whispers of the widows
To participate diligently in the course of creation
There is no act of man that is a success that calls this mandate to question
If climate change is the anthem of the future
A cryptic revolution is required to deliver us another sustainable culture
It is not just science
That requires empiricism to make sense
We are beyond a noun
Beyond a now
We are not of color
We are all that is the rainbow on the door step of the poor

this is a beautiful write describing who we are. We are travelers in this life plane. Seeking the answers to the mysteries of life. Always looking forward for redemption. WE ARE ALL THAT IS THE RAINBOW ON THE DOOR STEP OF THE POOR.) SO TRUE
