Who's that walking behind...?

There there,
do you see the grave
that unfailingly
follows me
day in and day out?
It never utters
a word or makes any noise;
doesn't allow me to
feel free of its clutch
as if it had cuffed me
for life...

Funny enough,
it never comes face to face;
always walking behind
like a guard without
a whistle...

Poem of the Day

poet Sir Walter Scott

The moon's on the lake, and the mist's on the brae,
And the Clan has a name that is nameless by day;
Then gather, gather, gather Grigalach!
Gather, gather, gather Grigalach!
