Who Is That Working In My Garden

It's me of course,
Since no volunteers rushed over...
There was one young man who came
To lend a helping hand, at no charge,
'Just give me what you want to'...
This is so open ended...
I offered $35.00 but he only accepted $25.00
Bless his heart!
Planting Azaleas, digging hosta beauties and
Repotting.
Running back and forth to help me for at least
An hour and a half.
Said he'd be happy to come back another day.

But this morning, I put on my pink, soft shoes, for
Indoor and outdoor comfort and I must say
It does feel so good walking across the grass, as
Off I go to the different beds...
Must water those beauties planted last week!
Oh No!
The water hose is not connected to the faucet!
So I fill the fancy red watering can I had just purchased and
Of course it was too heavy to drag...so I attached the hose.
'Sweet Williams' are watered, then 'Marigolds'...
The 'Dusty Millers need to be planted but not this morning!
Oh No!
I don't remember buying so many Azaleas in so many colors,
Four more to be planted...
Who will tend my garden, now that I am...
Pushed that thought aside,
I'll just do it my self, one for the next four mornings.
Must go to water the two beautiful new 'Knock Out Roses'
Oh, the Coreopsis are looking grand, their golden faces
All aglow.
Columbine are in need of care, looking sad beside
Where 'Love Lies Dying' blooms are being to develop
Strong stems and blue flowers.
Early morning,
My pink soft shoes, red watering can and I, off to
Tend the garden we had been waiting for someone
Else to tend.
Now I smile as I remember something my mother always
Said, 'If you want to get anything done, do it yourself! '
I think it is going to be fun as gardening is another one of
My favorite pass times, up until last year when I determined
It was going to be too hard to do, having just had another
Birthday and I hesitated to make the effort.
A new spring and a new me...hand in hand.
I did tell Earl I needed a few benches for sitting,
Here and there!

Who will tend the garden now that you are old? You're probably not as old as I am. Enjoyed the poem. Very relaxing, just like being in the garden. If you haven't read my poem BUTTERFLY OF DEATH, please do. It takes place in a garden. Thanks.
