Who Did I Love Poem by PADMINI DUTTA SHARMA

Who Did I Love

Rating: 3.5

It had been ages since we loved
I thought we both had got used to such
Days were ordinary with no thrust
We ate and drank, went to the theaters Parties and clubs
Our friends saw us as a couple in love,
I made you supper while you played golf
We listened to music, for hours we talked.

Sometimes we brushed against each other
Like strangers caught
Most of the times we avoided any contact
As if that would demean our self determined pact
We slept like two strangers facing the wall
Careful that we may never touch
As if that would be adultery of some sorts.

A friend came over for dinner
While leaving he hugged me tight
Quite unwilling to let go
Suddenly things changed at our front
You literally pushed him out
Locked the gate
And came over.

I was almost asleep
I felt something
It was you...
The same mad rush
The same overtures
Sweat dripping like rain drops Fresh, earthly, muddy
Breathless I did not want you to stop.

We went on for hours
Like two hungry bloodhounds
With their kill
Piercing, biting, pouncing
And then we slept like two divine beings
Calm, comforted, satisfied.

Next morning I saw my friend’s text
That read
“So was it good my love? ’

Every relationship need a booster dose...And wow what a friend...actually not a friend but a true lover who understood the steps that were needed to unite his friend with her husband. This is a true love poem..beautiful!
