Who Am I? Poem by Jaishree Nair

Who Am I?

Rating: 4.8

Who am I?
A question that keeps pestering me

A daughter to my parents loved
in eternal debt of gratitude for bringing me into this world?

A sister obliged to advise her on all matters serious?

A wife to dance to the tunes of my other half
to satisfy all his whims and fancies?

A mother to sacrifice; care and love unconditionally and selflessly?

A mother in law anxious to prove my love to the new young?

A teacher to flush out the skills of my wards and build on it?

An actor to do justice to all the roles bestowed?

Who am I?

Sentimentally sensitive Iam
Prejudiced personality Iam
Practical dreamer Iam
Angrily depressed Iam

A Woman caught in the web intricate,

Without identity and without peace

Very nice. Deep envision. Aptly presented the real facts. A beautiful poem I like most. Many thanks. .... 10

Kalidasa in his famous work Abhigyan Shakuntalam has tried to explain as to what a woman is. My friend a woman is a creator and one who creates should be a combination of all. According to Hindu mythology, Brahma the Creator, Shiva the destroyer and Vishnu the reformer all are various phases of a moon you call her Mata Shakti (Mother Power and we call him/her Allah) . You know it better than me.

You are without peace because all that you listed are just roles that weren't there and that would go away in time. You just forgot to look at the real you. I am not philosophizing. That is what all that we do amount to. May God bless you. You have presented the conundrum well.
