White On White Poem by Andy Sutcliffe

White On White

White birds against whiter sky
Lifted by thermal fly on high
Soaring gliding
On warm air rising
Outstretched wings
Freedom riding
Free from acquiescent binding
A soliloquy of silent gliding

Reaching ever higher
Twisted sails
Of dreamed desire
Imaginary forces
Hanging on transparent wire
White birds that never tire.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I was watching gulls against a flat cloudy sky.
