Whirligig Poem by Harley White

Once
Oh once
I wandered the wide world round—
Hungered
for meaning—
Begging
the right to be…
Once
Oh once
how I whirled my merry-go-round—
Galloped
my dizzying games
of round and round me…
At long last
Cracked
my high-low carousel course…
Beckoned
by my backyard,
I lay me down in green grass,
Surrendered my meaning…

At long… long length
I saw my horizons open to sky—
and silently
silently
I
began to be………
