Where Have All The Lovers Gone Poem by Michael Bisson

Where Have All The Lovers Gone

Where have all the lovers gone,
Is it I and you that's left,
Where have all the lovers gone
Exchanging waves of breath,
Like silver over gold top mountains
I'll love you till I'm old
Sun beaten, tired, and hunched upon my chest,
And still I protect you
Until my final rest
Where have all the lovers gone
Have they lost what is or was
our love it thrives like summer
sun bleeds threw the frost
Your eyes a silent ocean,
I float away, till lost
Earth, wind and fire and water hot it scolds,
Pure as ice our memories and stories yet untold.
I peer upon our future with a racing heart,
Beaming smiles of song and laughter, the dark can never part
We hear the final church bell hollar, it screams right threw the trees,
We sneer and grin, no bother
We swallow death with ease.
