When You Want To Forget Love Poem by RIC BASTASA

When You Want To Forget Love

your picture had long been
taken out from my pocket
i have thrown it
in the river that flows to the sea
who knows where
it may be

i care not to know
i have long forced myself to forget you

but then true love no matter what
even with forceful forgetting
comes to you again
whispering her name

it seems that even without your picture
you name is still
embedded in my brain
your face is a memory
that cannot be forgotten
in the deepest crevice
of my heart
