When You'Re Gone Poem by Fareez Phalez

When You'Re Gone

You told me to walk on this road
It's an open world to roam
You told me not to have any fear
'Cause I am not alone

And you did pick me up
When I once fell on my knees
You said I could go further
So you fixed my broken wings

I followed whatever you said
You labelled me a true soldier
But at times I cry
I always had your shoulders

But now my heart breaks
To see you fall to defeat
I thought you were stronger
With a heart harder than concrete

When you can't get up
How can I move on?
I shed so many tears
When my hero's gone

Now my spirit died
My soul twisted and weak
I need you right here
I am falling sick

Don't expect me to be strong
I can't get up to my feet
Even the truest soldier
Needs someone to lead
