When You Die Poem by RIC BASTASA

When You Die

let nothing bewilder
or surprise you
let no one worry about
what happens
after the last stone is thrown
when the first grass
creeps above you
she has a job of her own
the benefits of insurance
the house and the lawn
and the nice garden
she knows now how to
forget

you.
