When Summer Came In On A Winter Day Poem by ART PAUL SCHLOSSER

When Summer Came In On A Winter Day

Were you there, did you laugh and play
When Summer came in on a winter's day?
Did you wear shorts and eat ice cream?
Did it feel real or just a dream
When people sat outside and drank ice tea?
Did you laugh, did it make you happy
Maybe you wondered, if it was okay
When Summer came in on a winter's day

Did you play football or throw frisbe
Go for a run and feel so free?
The sun was shining, no clouds around
Outside musicians shared their cool sounds
You might have been dancing or holding hands with a friend
Wondering was winter over did the snow end?
It wasn't sad and it wasn't grey
When Summer came in on a winter's day

It was such a fun time I must admit
And I wonder did you get your bat and baseball mitt
Or waste the day on the computer instead?
Did you sleep all day in your lumpy or nice bed?
It's funny what decisions some people make
They eat dirt when they can have chocolate cake
Well I hope you didn't throw your chance for fun away
When Summer came in on a Winter's day
