When Purple Petals Show (Balassi Stanza) Poem by Gert Strydom

When Purple Petals Show (Balassi Stanza)

When purple petals show
speckled black and yellow,
a small modest lily spread
lovely vivid colours
blooming for many hours
as she opens her bright head
and as time passes by
she draws the human eye
before she withers, are dead.
