When One Moon Loves Another Moon Poem by Jasbir Chatterjee

When One Moon Loves Another Moon

Rating: 5.0

Dressed in a silk sari,
Draped over a silk blouse
And a painfully tight petticoat,
Its waist string sadistically
Lacerating my skin...
With beads of sweat running
Off my forehead,
Across my kajal-lined eyes and lipsticked lips,
I once waited restlessly
Outside a Metro station
Of Delhi,
Huffing, puffing, and fretting
On a hot, dusty evening
Of May 2017.

An then, a few moments later, dressed in a blue skirt,
Over a white blouse,
A big bag hanging from one arm,
Another bag hanging from the other arm,
A young girl came and sat on the opposite seat.
She was also waiting restlessly;
She kept getting up and pacing about anxiously
Suddenly she looked up and gazed longingly
at the moon!
What a lovely picture she made!
I forgot all about the tight waist string, the sweaty blouse
and my fast dissolving makeup.
And I thought so that's how it looks
When one moon loves another moon...

Suddenly she looked up and gazed longingly at the moon! What a lovely picture she made! I forgot all about the tight waist string, the sweaty blouse and my fast dissolving makeup. And I thought so that's how it looks When one moon loves another moon... - - - - - - - -Moon is all about beauty, dream and love that are ingrained in nature. The difficulties, the sweat and discomforts were quickly forgotten by you when you looked at the young beautiful lady looking at the moon as you could relate to your own dreams. It transported you to your own dreamland.A wonderful write, thanks for sharing.

Brilliant portrayal of two young ladies at the Metro station battling sultry conditions. Then comes this classic touch 'one moon loves another moon...' along with its photographic proof. Thanks for sharing. Suddenly she looked up and gazed longingly at the moon! .... What a lovely picture she made! how it looks.... When one moon loves another moon...
