When Mama Came A Visiting Poem by Toshie Nohara

When Mama Came A Visiting

Mama was eighty-four
When she came a-visiting
The eight hour’s flight
Didn’t affect her at all
Early the next morning
Found her actively exercising
Joyfully in the bedroom
While our three daughters
Were still looking sleepy and gloom
Mama was humming a lovely tune
Before breakfast
Her grown-up grandchildren
All so enthralled-smiled and smiled
When mama came a visiting
She was so understanding
Would listen to everyone’s stories
Most of them really, really funny
When mama came a visiting
The whole house would be laughing
Laughing, laughing almost all day long.
