When Love It Turns Sour Poem by Francis Duggan

When Love It Turns Sour

When love it turns sour there's ill feeling the glass and the crockery fly
And women in fear of violence from their ex partners for help to the lawmakers cry
Five years ago when she first met him she swore she had found her soul mate
But five years and and three children later on each others nerves they do grate,
When love it turns sour there is anger for hate it is love upside down
Though last year they were a strong item and they walked hand in hand in the town
Though their love was love in name only call it infatuation if you may
For true love it lasts through the decades and is not known to fade away,
We read many poems of undying love but such poems are a personal thing
And pop singers become wealthy and famous when of the praises of love they do sing
But the simple fact of the matter is that true love between people is rare
And the mental wounds of every broken marriage are wounds that are hard to repair
And when love it turns sour there is heartache and sorrow and anger and tears
And it leaves a sour taste in the feelings that does seem to linger for years.
