When I Woke Up, I Was Under A Blanket Of Sunshine Poem by NHIEN NGUYEN MD

When I Woke Up, I Was Under A Blanket Of Sunshine

Rating: 2.8

We attended mass at our church this morning
Then I drove my wife to a bank and waited for her.
This bank was next to a Subway restaurant
Where we bought one foot long tuna sandwich.
I intended to save this sandwich for our lunch
But my wife suggested immediate consumption.
In one hand, I held a can of coca
In my other hand, I held my sandwich.
Then repeatedly, I drank and ate.
Outside, the sun shone its beautiful oblique rays
White Autumn light crept in through a glass window.
A mulberry tree exposed its many bare branches
On this tree, there was no perching bird but a sitting squirrel wagging its tail.
Clear autumn sky was painted light blue
Looking from behind a window, bare branches appear like scratching the blue sky.
Suddenly, a nap took me by surprise.
When I woke up, I was under a blanket of sunshine.

Above is the translation poem of the Vietnamese poem of NHIEN NGUYEN MD:

GIẬT MÌNH TỈNH DẬY, NẮNG TRỜI ÔM TÔI

Sáng nay dự lễ nhà thờ
Thế rồi chở vợ, ghé chờ nhà băng.
Nhà băng này cạnh Subway
Tuna sandwich mua mang về nhà
Đồ ăn dành để bữa trưa
Nhưng mà vợ nói, ăn ngay đậm đà.
Một tay nước ngọt coca
Tay kia cầm bánh; uống ăn liền liền.
Ngoài kia nắng chiếu nghiêng nghiêng
Mùa thu nắng trắng, nắng xuyên cửa phòng.
Cây dâu hết lá, cành trơ
Cành không chim đậu; sóc ngồi vẫy đuôi.
Mầu trời phơn phớt xanh lơ
Nhìn qua cửa sổ, cành trơ gãi trời.
Bỗng đâu, giấc ngủ tình cờ
Giật mình tỉnh dậy, nắng trời ôm tôi.
