When I Was Young Poem by Mai Murphy Venn

When I Was Young

When I was young
I thought the days were full of sun
That the rain vanishes and went away
For the sunshine was there to stay

When I was young
I live my life and had my fun
I played in the fields of green grass
I gazed into the skies as the clouds pass

When I was young
The days were long yet nothing was done
I daydream, for I was a child that was growing
Yes I was a child that long for knowledge of knowing

When I was young
I had dreams to dream and time to think
The year went fast they were gone in a blink
They were things I yearn for but I lost the link
