When I Say I Love You Poem by Ryan John Payne

When I Say I Love You

When I say I love you,
It may not always be in words.
Those written here upon my heart
Will sometimes go unversed.
Yet in spite of disappointment,
In spite of all the pain,
I have a corner in my heart
Where my love for you hasn't changed.
Life's tempest may make it rocky;
Sometimes you'll want to scream.
But when your mercy reciprocates,
I know I've truly been redeemed.
Yet throughout life's travail
And all its miseries,
Let's not forget one another
And that I love you and you love me.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Orginally I wrote this for my second ex-wife, but I didn't finish it until after my divorce, ironically enough.
