When I Perish Poem by Gert Strydom

When I Perish

When I perish
from this world
of pleasure and pain
and joy and sadness,
I’ll want it all again.

If I enter eternity
I’ll long to be,
back on the earth with you.

Let other people long
for a place of peace
and streets of gold,
but I will be happy and content
to have spent
a life with you.
