When Hope Fades Poem by The Poet Darkling

When Hope Fades

There is no more wrenching moment
Than that moment when hope fades
It slips painfully from your grasp
Slashing your soul like razor blades

You're left naked to face the truth
That your wishes were in vain
And that all the time you've wasted
Can never be lived again

Where there's no hope, there's no promise
There's no reason to go on
You can't slip back into the past
‘Cuz the past is dead and gone

You'll stay always there in Limbo
Even God's forgotten you
Onto you, most wretched curses
Will the Devil's demons spew

Forever hopeless you'll remain
As there's no God without faith
Unimaginable suffering
Inflicted by Hades' wraith

Down to hellfire and damnation
Your despairing soul cascades
‘Cuz you lose your will to pray
The very moment when hope fades
