When Friendship Fades Away Poem by Priya KTG

When Friendship Fades Away

On a gloomy, bleak winter evening,
As I strolled along the bare streets,
Dark sky furnished with grey clouds,
The crows rattled around in chaos.

There stood an age old tree with leaves lost,
Waiting for demise to get along with him.
Below which a group of men and women
In complete white had gathered.

To mourn for the lost soul,
I discovered when intrigued.
Amidst the crowd beside the giant tree;
She slept forever calm and unspoken.

Selfishness wrapped around her,
In utmost delicacy.
In the lifeless coffin of blood and flesh!
Only memories of her prevailed in the futile air.

Trust screamed in agony!
Love could not comprehend the loss!
Tears rolled down wetting her cheeks.
The sad truth souring her throat, down the line.

In the choir that sang in the backdrop:
Greed, envy, ego, betrayal and four more
Hummed the last prayers.
Masking their mockful smiles! !

The reason for her death,
Was presumed to be a self-destruction.
It was - or rather a brutal murder!
The testimonies demolished clueless! !

The blind world will never perceive this naked truth.
If it would in the past,
This world would have been a much better place to live in....
