When Darkness Calls Poem by Mark Dillon

When Darkness Calls

Rating: 5.0

There's an emptiness inside me.
It grows bigger every day.
It threatens to engulf me,
I feel lost, can't find my way.
Like a ship that's caught in a blinding mist,
storm damaged and beginning to list.
Looking for a beacon that isn't there,
nobody around for my troubles to share.

I must dig deep and I must cope.
And while I breathe I hold onto hope.
That the mist will clear and the stars shine through.
And the dawn will bring a sky bright and blue.

The sun now it rises.
It brightens up the way.
A new life beckons

And it begins today.

Found it! I really liked this message of hope. Akin to my Sky High but in a different direction. You greet the new day, in my addiction I wanted to obliterate it, sleep it through. Anyhow, thanks for the recommendation, I'll get to reading some more Mark Dillion in just a bit. Thanks!

Liked this one Mark. Got to be a fighter and look through the darkness. You began the poem well then used the ship/beacon metaphor to drive your point. Good write!
