When Apple-Trees Are In Blossom (Dreams Were Made To Be Broken) Poem by Xana Mori

When Apple-Trees Are In Blossom (Dreams Were Made To Be Broken)

Rating: 2.3

…and you're spellbound by May's charms
Inhaling softness of the breeze
A butterfly upon your arm
Keeps the secret of the apple-trees.

And gentle petals falling down
Dancing with the graceful wind
Cover you with rosy gown
Protecting from awakening.

The sun caresses your blissful face
Birds sing frisking in verdure
Unconscious, blind with flower maze
You've lost Elysium so pure.

… you open your eyes.

Torments with suppressed desire -
Feel the nightmare of the day
Your heart is seized with hopeless fire
But no more chances to escape.

You're left to watch your greatest hopes
Mercilessly fall to the ground
Illusive petals, your mind's joke,
Now make you bear the daily round.

A dying voice in your majestic soul
Whispers: ‘ your wishes left unspoken
Somebody has played you foul
Abate your pride: dreams were made to be broken'.
