When Poem by Victor Cruickshank

When

When the world began, were not you there?
When the seas separated, were not you there?
When the famines came, were not you there?
When the great wars came, we were full of fear
When the bombs were fired, did not thou hear?
When peace reigned, we found our peers
When plants were grown and fields were clear
When we pollute, who cleans the air?
When we lose a month, who adds a year?
When we're safe, we say God you really are.
When we used to hunt, did we not use spears?
When animals are becoming extinct, do we not spare?
When we move so fast, we forget the rear.
When the world ends, will not you be there?
