What Should Have Been Poem by Rik Bertrand

What Should Have Been

Thoughts of you are in my head,
dreaming of what I should have said.
Whispering your name in my sleep
only to wake with pain so deep.

love lost, love found, and lost again,
wishing for what could have been.
Tears flow then dry then flow again,
wishing for what should have been.

New day. new thoughts, new pain.
not seeing you has driven me insane.
How do I get out of this scrape,
you are my only hope of a real escape.

love lost, love found, and lost again,
wishing for what could have been.
Tears flow then dry then flow again,
wishing for what should have been.

what could have been will never be,
but the past will not see us free.
Memories strong, will not let go.
and thoughts of you continue to flow.

Love lost, love found, and lost again,
wishing for what could have been.
Tears flow then dry then flow again,
wishing for what should have been.,

Back to my dreams in the night
fantasy driven by your inner light.
Visions of life with you as the core,
visions of love, with you at the door.

I MISS YOU.

Whoever you are missing, is probably a very, very, lucky person. Maybe 'what should have been' - is still possible. I wouldn't give up on the thought - that person probably misses you just as much. I would go for it, only live once, go find them.
