What's The Use? Poem by Geetha Jayakumar

What's The Use?

Rating: 3.5

He couldn't believe
His long awaited dream
Of winning a lottery ticket
Was fulfilled with
An unexpected surprise
Of huge amount
Which he never imagined
So excited he was that his
Heart was in his mouth
And this uncontrolled happiness
Lead him to anxiety
Further heart attack
Followed by death.
Everything got over in a few minutes.
What's the use of that money
That not even a penny of it
He couldn't enjoy.

Made a lovely house
By the time it was ready
His relationship
strained
With the beloved ones.
There was no one
Who would make his
House a Home
What' the use when
The nest has become empty?

You have achieved everything
You wanted
Name, fame and success
And you were engrossed
In that so much that
You realise it too late
That you have
No one to share your pain and gain.

Life doesn't wait for anyone
Time doesn't wait for anyone,
Nor the relationship wait for anyone.

But you realise it too late when
You have lost everything.
What's the use of thinking it now
When everything is far away from you,
Beyond your reach.

If use of any thing goes against the enjoyment and progress then what is the use? Dear Geetha, you have so nicely inscribed this theme in this poem. It may be quoted some lines.... He couldn't believe His long awaited dream Of winning a lottery ticket Was fulfilled with An unexpected surprise Of huge amount Which he never imagined So excited he was that his Heart was in his mouth And this uncontrolled happiness Lead him to anxiety Further heart attack Followed by death. Everything got over in a few minutes. What's the use of that money That not even a penny of it He couldn't enjoy. Thanks for sharing this didactive poem.

Yes, a winning lottery ticket Can put you on a sticky wicket And Yet people do dream and buy And with sad faces in graves do lie........ Happens to many people on whom dame luck smiles with a lottery ticket. Good write

A thoughtful moral message you scripted here about controlling desire in this materielistc mortal life what does exist for a short time and in a very unsure and uncertain manner. Thank you Geetha.
