What's My Earning I Know Not! Poem by Geetha Jayakumar

What's My Earning I Know Not!

I am saddened by the life I lived
what I gained I know not
One day with tears I may bid bye to life.

I fetched nothing after so many years of living.
Empty handed I came
Will I be leaving empty handed?

I am saddened by the life I lived
my hands are bare
my heart is empty
my thoughts are dry
with few drops of tears.
Well that's all in my life!

What's my earning I know not.
Was my life a blessing I know not!

At some point of time when I just turned back
I could feel these words ringing in my heart!

Please not be saddened for on this road you have travelled your achievements of survival have been remarkable, your gifts of giving have be appreciated and the joy your smile brings, YOU do not know. Simply beautiful Geetha, just as your heart.

This poem is so saddening! Who said your hands are empty and you have given nothing to the world! You have given quite a number of good poems for us to read and enjoy! Geetha...once you were so full of enthusiasm and positive energy! Now I feel, you have fallen into a state of depression! Hope and pray your heart which is now empty gets filled with the zest for life and a lot of positive energy! Very poignant write!

At times it is good to introspect. However, while introspecting we have to be non-judgmental and have a positive state of mind. Life is like a garland made of flowers and weeds. So there ought to be many happy instances which we should zoom in on and celebrate and bad occurrences which can be whitewashed away with a bit of introspection. Without pain and suffering, can peace and joy exist? Coming back to the poem, I loved its presentation.

I can appreciate your remorse. These are questions that haunt all thinking individuals. But, like Rajesh-ji asked, without pain and suffering, can peace and joy exist? Good poem.

~~We all leave with empty hands, but if we leave full hearts behind, we did our job. Your poetry is deep and personal, Geetha. Thank you for sharing Peace

What you have you always shared. The greatest wealth is sharing with others. We are all delighted by your poems. At times one may feel what one has done is nothing. I consider that as a sign of humility. Cheers.
