What's Left Behind Poem by Argentine Tango

What's Left Behind

Rating: 0.5

Another one carried away
By his dreams
Ambition
Commitment
Call it what you will
But he's gone
I knew it would happen
So did he
But we began something that had
An inevitable end anyway
They all move away
I suppose that's the curse of your
Early twenties
Everyone moves away
I washed his sweatshirt
And put on one from a stranger
Who gave me his a year ago on my birthday
When I was locked out and cold
I never saw him again
So I couldn't give it back
He knew that would happen
But he gave it to me anyway

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
A bit unconventional from my normal style of writing, perhaps, but there is a real story in there anyway that I just needed to put to paper for my own sake.
