What Others Expect Poem by Aerin Andre

What Others Expect

People expect what I once showed.
They expect the comical remarks for pleasure.
They enjoy the witty smile that ties the mask together.
People expect the best an refuse to accept anything else.
People do not want to know about what refuses to step out at the spot light.
No one cares about the truth that actually occurs.
No one knows about the blood torn scars on the inner thigh,
No one comprehends the ring that they never notice.
Are you really the most popular loser?
While in turn leaving no stone left without the dirt guilt.
No one knows who he really is or cares.
The insecure little kid with no real direction.
They only tend to respond to the adrenaline junkie arriving late to the party.
Why is being celebrated so important?
Who is in charge of this dominating freak show?
Yet if anything is done out of character it only ends in disaster.
How can you truly complain?
When it comes down to it who really knows what to do when the best is expected and no one can accept who really lies behind this entire faulty masquerade.
