What Is Mammon? Poem by Terence George Craddock (Spectral Images and Images Of Light)

What Is Mammon?

Rating: 5.0

Mammon is
riches
personified
as evil

or wealth
regarded
as a God
or an evil

influence.

Observe the worshippers
of wealth on Wall Street
washing hands in rivers
of wealth bled tribute money.

Praises sung to Babylon
the Great in haughty pride.
Great luxury is this palace
of immorality poured funds.

All those poor prostituted
bodies minds worldwide?

International Monetary Fund
dictates crops sown slave
wages sown in third world
newly termed developing...

symbolic of developing
western greed leeched
from veins of illiterate
workers oppressed exploited...

blood diamonds sparkle
on the hands about the necks
of their paid for women

wealth riches considered
an evil corrupt influence
Hollywood is mammonism
not your precious mother?

Mammon
an incarnate evil
dressed in bodily form
dressed as epitome of fashion

while number crunchers
noisily busily munch
devising new ways
to sell workers into early grave

Mammon is
riches
personified
as evil

or wealth
regarded
as a God
or an evil

influence.
