What I Dream And What I Find Poem by Amitava Sur

What I Dream And What I Find

Rating: 5.0

My dreams:
- - - - - - - -
A new morning being covered under a quilt of mist
Being washed and mopped with dew.
A smiling sun, rising with a golden color -
Waking the earth with it's vigor and valor.

Floating clouds in the blue open sky
Along with a flying garland formed by a flock of white cranes,
Village dames with pitchers on their curvy waists -
Walking past, singing so sweet.

A mild breeze is blowing over green paddy fields
Creating a wave and yellow butterflies, fluttering on it.
Hearing a beautiful tune of a shepherd's flute
Coming from a distant place.

In an idle noon, underneath the shade of a tree
Resting quietly within nature's so pleasing beauty! !
My hands, firmly holding my loved so close
And myself, resting in her warm soft lap! !

And what I find:
- - - - - - - - - - -
In a dark and fearsome night,
Listening to a woman's utter cry.
Poisonous breath under bats' wings
And hyenas, moving with their red eyes! !

Passing the night under panic and fear
Where is the quiet morning with light?
The whole sky is being cast with darkest clouds
And with punishing lightning and thunder! !

Alone I'm sitting in a corner
Amidst the bricks and stones,
In between cemented four walls
With no light or any sound! !

My love, my fiancé is in an unknown distance
Yearning and stretching out her hands!
My dreams are like a mirage only
Beckoning me and getting faded out …..

What I dream may not be real. But what I find may be a dream. Life is filled with such undifferentiated moments those are shadows between dream and realities. Wonderful and master piece of work.

What an accurate depiction of life. We know what we want, what we need to make us happy. But along comes fate with its own agenda. And all too often it's so different from what we imagined. And we have to accept what it brings to us. So well expressed in this poem.

Beautiful poem. I think to be able to imagine and dream of lovely scenes beyond life's four cemented walls is also a wonderful gift given to us. And to write about it with such beauty is truly inspiring. Thank you for sharing.
