What I Dislike In Others Poem by Francis Duggan

What I Dislike In Others

What I dislike in others are things that I only see
In a person I do not know too well the one that's known as me
Since they are the reflection to the dark corners of my soul
The weaknesses in our humaness seems beyond our control,
What I dislike in others are things I dislike in my own self 'twould seem
Since of an earthly Utopia I no longer do dream
Not hard to spot the rednecks Am I a redneck too?
Since what we dislike in others of self can also be true,
What we dislike in others in ourselves we recognize
That we are more like the one we do not like than we wish to realize,
Some project their feelings on to others perhaps I'm one of those
Since a rose by any other name would still smell like a rose
And what I dislike in others perhaps I only see
The things I dislike in one I do not know too well the one that's known as me.
