What Heights I Might Have Reached By Now

What Heights I Might Have Reached By Now, If...........

If only I had listened
to my mentor's philosophical advice

If I had fixed eventually
my fickle mind

If I had set my sail
direct to my definite shore

If I had taken seriously
my speaking mirror - the circle of friends before

If I hadn't be a man
of by and by

If I had ignored those
bullying criticisms though quiet degrading

If I had considered all the '' IFs''
as my country strengths against adversities

Heaven knows what heights I might
have reached by now

But if these ''IFs'' hadn't be mine
in my mind

I couldn't be
shackled in modern-day slavery:
digging off affluent milk and honey

If I haven't enslaved by
foreign laborious chain

Hell knows how poor I
should have known;
a broken dreamer back
to my mortgage home
