Friend…that is what you said to me
On that very day that we met
We promised we would be best friends forever
But now you are nowhere to be found

I’ve gone to you and said life was great
You listened and praised the Lord with me
You’ve come up to me and said the same thing
I did what you had done before

I’ve gone to you and said life was hard
You listened and prayed for me that very moment
You’ve come up to me and said the same thing
I did what you had done before

I’ve gone to you and said life was confusing
You explained how simple some things are in life
You’ve come up to me and said the same thing
I did what you had done before

I’ve gone to you and cried on your shoulder
You felt what I felt and started to cry too
You’ve come up to me and done the same thing
I did what you had done before

But now I go up to you and say life is great
You just look the other way and start to disappear
You came up to me and said the same thing
I did what I had done before

But now I go up to you and say life is hard
You shake your head and start walking away
You came up to me and said the same thing
I did what I had done before

You don’t say anything, just turn your head and not listen
You’ve come up to me and said the same thing

You shove my head off and brush off my tears

What happened to the times where we were like one?
Feeling what the other was feeling
You now have disappeared and forgotten me
As if I don’t even exist to you

Now I have to tell myself these feelings
And that hurts oh so much more
A friend is what everybody needs in life
But my friends are now all gone

I wish I could say that I will get new friends
Ones that will listen to me and care for me like you did
But you have left an empty place in my soul
Which will never be filled, no matter how many friends I gain
