What Brings Me To You Poem by David Blake

What Brings Me To You

Rating: 5.0

Needing, nothing more than some peace
and maybe more time, I sit alone in a dark
room trying to remember you. Shadowy
figures dance in the candlelight, the
smoke twisting as the dreams and
memories grow ever dimmer with the
passing of time. Angels sing and lover’s
dream but I know in your arms I will never
again take comfort. As the stars twinkle
and all the realities of a life wasted become
clear I see no reason to stay, pretending that
I care.

Stark, realistic, but full of 'soul' - beautifully written
