What Am I? Poem by Dakota Ellerton

What Am I?

I am the feeling
when you're lying in your bed
tossing and turning
from the images in your head
I am the feeling you get
when your ice cream is too cold
when food is too hott
and a loaf is too old
when you walk bare foot
and you step on a prickle
when you go to eat a cucumber
but instead you get a pickle
I am the chill down your spine
and the wind burn on your legs
I am the itch on your back
and the annoyance of a shirt tag
I am the headache you despise
and the cough you just can; t rid
I am the container you put food in
when you can not find the lid
I am the pimple on prom night
I am the homework over due
I am the ink that won't wash off your hands
I am the missing shoe
yes I am a many thing's
a trickster, if you please
I'm every feeling you have had
I am the biggest tease
