Well Poem by Alexzia Ferdinand

Well

learned not to leap,
my heart.
unlearned, if you will.
a simple fact
because letdowns can only go so far down
once i've hit bottom i'm surprised
to find there's sand beneath
this rock
and it's taking hold.
and so i keep sinking
with a plethora of words
on my tongue
but no place to spit them.
