Weirdo To Hero Poem by Andrew Prowse

Weirdo To Hero

Weirdo to Hero
(reflection on the death of Michael Jackson)

Death has the unique ability
to reinstate the credibility
of faded stars and fallen idols.
We forgive their little foibles
and mourn what’s now a massive loss,
that just last week was tabloid dross

The media, which made lots of noise
about the fates of little boys
now finds that business not so heinous,
‘cause after all he was a genius.
Forget the things we once abhorred.
He wont be doing them no more!

All we’re seeing is confusion
of what’s real with what’s illusion.
The man could really sing and dance,
so certainly deserves the chance
to be remembered in his prime,
and not as freaky androgyne.

But what I can say with conviction;
truth is more bizarre than fiction.
Twinkle twinkle, little star.
How I wonder what you were.
