Weather Pain Poem by Deborah Dalton

Weather Pain

Rating: 5.0

What is the temperature
today,
of the world?

Needing a prediction
to get a cue
for my dress

How will I be best suited
to avoid
an arrest?

Do I cover
my head
to shield from
the rain
dropped
stress?

What dialect
should I speak
to prevent
a
bloody
mess?

The cold winds
of indifference,
blow harsh,
so
layer colors

The heat of oppression
pierces
the honor badge
worn by
my brothers

Rain slickers
protect
from
sweet dew
tainted
with the
salty tears
of
mournful
mothers

Chains restrict
righteous anger,
clothed
as compliance
while
it
smothers

World,
what is
your
temperature
today,
I need
to prepare
to
see
tomorrow
