Wearing Glasses Poem by Long Tooth

Wearing Glasses

Wearing glasses helps vision but also disguises,
With sunglasses blocking some nasty surprises,
They can't change eye color like contacts can do,
(Though both cut UV rays and hence cataracts too!)

Some see glasses as jewelry; I think that's rubbish,
One's eyes quite attractive unless you are snobbish,
New Polaroids help reduce glare in your car,
(Which can help prevent headaches if you're going far.)

But an unremarked value is blocking bug impact,
A bug still may smart but your vision's not abstract.
But justifications blow up in advance,
(As you'll see when my poem considers romance!)

For your glasses reveal you have genetic weakness,
That marketing tries hard to frame as uniqueness,
God bless me, I might make a hit as a bard,
But for Fido, the "hound dog" who smokes in her yard!
